General Responsibilities:
The Document Management Specialist maintains patient records in electronic and paper format. This position is responsible for managing incoming documents (fax, mail, and all other physical documents) as required.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
High school graduate or GED
Basic computer skills.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
Must be able to work independently
Must be able to perform tasks with appropriate speed and accuracy
3 or more years of experience in a health care environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Bi-lingual capability (English/Spanish)

Significant Job Functions:
Retrieve electronic documents from Fax Box
Retrieve, print, scan and distribute ED records
Manage Health Information Exchange Portal ED and Inpatient Notifications
Scan and distribute records received
Scan and assign paper records to document management vendor’s queue
Create orders and data enter results for various labs, diagnostics, procedures
Track and maintain telephone encounters
Pickup, sort and distribute mail
Answer department phones and assist staff as needed
Manage lab and DI reconciliation queue
Manage and process specific release and obtain requests for records
Manage and process certain correspondence requests such as General Public Assistance forms
Manage and schedule on-site auditors
Physical Effort/ Environment:
This is a hybrid position, allowing duties to be performed from home or at a Thundermist site.
The first three months of this position will be on-site; will transfer to hybrid once competencies have been achieved.
General office environment. Requires standing, sitting, walking, carrying, and lifting up to 30lbs.
Ability to ambulate between sites.
Work Schedule Demands:
Day/Week. Hours determined by the manager.
Communication Skills:
Good written and oral communication skills, as well as good telephone skills.
