What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead UX Designer position at TIAA?
Currently, TIAA has an opportunity for a Lead UX Designer. This position will support internal design projects such as the Unified Desktop Program and others. In addition, will collaborate with the UX team, the business and technical partners to create best-in-class user experiences that exceed business objectives and customer expectations. This role will have the ability to “stand-up” for the Voice of the Customer, end-user and the UX perspective.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience as a User Experience Designer, Visual Designer, or similar design leadership role. In addition is highly collaborative and can take both a creative and analytical approach when problem solving. This role will proactively work within and to help guide a team of geographically distributed contributors with diverse skills, backgrounds and personalities. This role can be located in Charlotte, NC or Boston, MA. (Please submit application with Online Portfolio).
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Collaborate with UX, product and digital strategy partners to understand user needs and opportunities
Create low- to high-fidelity IA and designs throughout the design process, often under tight deadlines – including wireframes, user flows, detailed visual designs, specs, annotations and other documentation to communicate the experience
Coordinate and lead a UX team of designers, content strategists, usability and accessibility specialists, often concurrently across multiple projects, priorities and working groups
Effectively lead team calls online and in-person, plan and manage UX requirement and design sessions, lead large UX review and design approval sessions with key stakeholders
Collaborate with development teams to understand constraints and ensure appropriate implementation
Manage and balance the design work intake, workflow and timelines to ensure accurate and timely delivery of projects on budget

Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a User Experience Designer, Visual Designer, or similar design leadership role
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with design tools such as Sketch, Invision, Axure RP, etc…
Preferred:
- Ability to communicate both in writing and orally to diverse stakeholders;
- Ability to make presentations
- Experience running meetings online and ability to “think on one’s feet” in front of an audience
- Experience with multi-device design and responsive design
- Experience with Agile methodologies; experience with SAFe practices is considered ideal.
- A passion for being the voice of the user and a proven track record building user-centric solutions
- Financial services experience preferred
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
