Nuveen is seeking an experienced Vice President, Lead Data Engineer to lead our data engineering team and spearhead the development of a robust Data Lake House on the AWS platform. This role requires exceptional leadership and management skills, along with a deep understanding of data architecture and data pipelines. You will lead a team of talented data engineers, including coordination with offshore teams, to deliver innovative solutions and migrate users across Nuveen onto the Lake house.
This role will be in our Iselin, NJ or Charlotte, NC office. We work in a hybrid-flex environment.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead and inspire the data engineering team, including offshore teams, in developing complex data workloads on our AWS Data Lake House.
- Formulate effective strategies for data acquisition, storage, processing, and consumption.
- Design and implement scalable and resilient data pipelines within the AWS environment.
- Oversee the creation of prototypes to demonstrate innovative data solutions.
- Ensure stringent security measures, compliance, and data governance across all data operations.
- Drive the team to meet project milestones and deliverables, ensuring high-quality and timely execution.
- Provide exceptional leadership skills to skills to motivate and guide a team towards success.
- Provide project management abilities with a focus on meeting milestones and delivering results.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing or leading a team of Data engineers or development teams.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with large-scale data modeling and the implementation of efficient ETL/ELT strategies.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience with AWS Data Services, Glue, Lake formation and Starburst.
- Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience with data architecture and the design of scalable data pipelines to transform the data into data products.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with data warehousing solutions and possess a strong understanding of their architecture.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience with working with security master concepts, including their structure and their critical role in financial data systems.
Preferred:
- Possess strong critical thinking skills to address complex data engineering, and reporting-related challenges.
- Possess excellent communication, presentation, and people skills, and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and diverse team.
- Demonstrated ability to function in an environment which requires flexibility, good judgment and intelligent decision making, often based on limited information and/or extreme conditions.
- Passionate about AI and innovation and eager to learn and grow.
