Tilden School, a private, independent K-5 school is currently seeking a part-time Classroom Aid and After-care Lead for the 2022-23 school year.
Tilden School was established in 1985 to provide high-quality individualized education in the West Seattle area. We offer children a nurturing atmosphere in which to experiment and learn. Responsibilities
Classroom Aid
- Assist and support students during independent work time
- Supervise/lead small student working groups in spelling, math, or reading assignments
- Work one-on-one with students as needed, to provide individualized learning support
- Prepare and assemble learning materials
- Correct student work
- Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly classroom environment
- Independently find tasks that need attention in the classroom and take the initiative to complete
- Supervise students during snack, lunch and/or recess
- Communicate and coordinate support plans for curriculum units with Lead classroom teacher
Afterschool Enrichment (ASE)
- Provide a consistent, safe, nurturing, engaging, positive after-school program (3:00pm – 6:00pm)
- Develop and plan outside and inside activities
- Communicate with parents at pick up
- Respond to basic emergencies
- Communicate with teachers and staff about students when needed
- Maintain sign out documents
- Ensure all outside and inside equipment is put away properly
- Supervise and collaborate with ASE aides to create an engaging, warm environment
- Clean, sanitize equipment and rooms as needed
Qualifications and Behaviors
- Previous experience with classroom teaching or in other educational contexts (e.g., camp counselor, daycare, preschool)
- An engaging and nurturing ethos
- Attentive to detail and perceptive of student social-emotional well-being
- Creative, patient and encouraging
- Able to manage groups of children (K-5) in free-play and structured activities
- Secondary education with coursework in childhood development, early education or related field
- Ability to be on-campus and in-person
- Must meet all Tilden School health and safety training requirements
