Tinys Milk & Cookies is our newest store under the Tiny Boxwoods Productions umbrella. We are looking for a talented and experienced Pastry Chef to join our growing team. Our program is 10 years in, and are looking for a pastry chef who is eager for a challenge and to be a part of our newest project. Milk & Cookies is a walk up cookie and coffee shop serving our homemade ice cream and the home of the Tinys in-house bakery. Being a pastry chef in our kitchen entails enjoying the creation of all the days pastries which include our famous chocolate chip cookies, croissants, cinnamon rolls, donuts, scones all the way to plated desserts in the evenings for our fancier dinner service.

Tiny Boxwoods Productions Pastry Chef cares deeply about our culture and is responsible for all food production. Maintains highest professional food quality and sanitation standards while providing effective leadership of the kitchen staff.
Duties and responsibilities

Must be passionate about baking and pastries
Planning and directing all food production in a kitchen
Schedule team members effectively on a weekly basis
Maintains health code standards

Keep an eye out for problems that arise in the kitchen

Create and maintain all checklists
Enforce all Tiny Boxwoods Productions handbook standards

In charge of hiring pastry team members
Provides performance reviews for staff annually
Completes appropriate HR paperwork in a timely manner
Responds to e-mails and correspondence quickly and efficiently
Consistent communication via nightly manager logs
Attends weekly meetings with all levels of management
Collaborates with Executive Chef on dessert menus/pastry items
Maintains morning and night pastry pars
Responsible for maintaining the bread program
Responsible for producing and maintaining the ice cream program specifications and standards for consistency
Meets all deadlines and completes projects as assigned
Demonstrates teamwork with all levels of management
Inspects food products for consistency and quality
Ability to Collaborate with Milk and Cookies management team in Houston
Ability to motivate and train all staff regardless of position level and skill level
Provide incentives for staff members to go above and beyond the expectations
Maintains consistency in a fast-paced environment
Close attention to detail
Must always be pressed and tailored, complying with the dress code policy
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned in a timely manner
Qualifications
Tiny Boxwoods Productions require the minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the position of Pastry Chef.
Qualifications include:
Texas Food Handlers certificate
Sanitation certificate
Stage Requirement
Degree in culinary or equivalent
Relevant experience in leadership role
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent organizational skills
Flexible availability in scheduling
Capacity to multitask
Ability to work as part of a team
Dependable
Working conditions
The incumbent will be working in a restaurant setting, on the floor with guests, in the kitchen and dish area. Potential hazards include but are not limited to cuts, slipping, tripping, falls and burns. Frequent hand washing is required.
Physical requirements
The incumbent is required to stand/walk for long periods of time. Incumbent is regularly required to talk, hear, kneel, push, pull, with occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps.
This position is very active and requires the ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and can constantly move around in the kitchen.
