Tipico North America is looking for someone who will provide leadership and support as the key member of our legal team overseeing our legal department while providing advice on legal and strategic issues to the CEO and executive teams for our US operations.
This position requires someone who is experienced in the US gaming and sportsbetting industry along with partnership and M&A deals as well as aligning ambitious strategic and operational plans for a fast-growth company.
The VP of Legal will report directly to the CEO and work together with the rest of management team and employees. They will be responsible for contributing to the overall management of all the legal and operational affairs for Tipico USA. The position holder ensures this is done by doing the following:
- Advising, guiding and delivering legal counsel to the overall organization on all-encompassing matters affecting the company including corporate legal initiatives, state licensing requirements, structuring transactions with service providers, as well as partnership agreements.
- Maintaining relationships with relevant local, state and federal governmental bodies, legislatures and the community at large as well as the Tipico Group Board, shareholders and key partners of Tipico USA.
- Advising the CEO and executive management team on various legal and regulatory issues regarding ongoing operation and expansion of Tipico in the US, including product, technology, finance, HR, marketing, sports betting and igaming operations.
- Building the legal department by mentoring and supporting the attorneys within the Tipico US group while contributing to a collaborative team culture demonstrating leadership and initiative to drive the success of the legal team.
- JD degree from an accredited law school
- Member of the New Jersey State Bar in good standing.
- Minimum 10 years’ of legal experience both in-house and at a law firm
- Strong Interpersonal skills including an ability to communicate effectively
- Must be highly motivated and comfortable with accountability and willing to state a definitive position when asked for guidance.
- Strong leadership skills with proven track record of effective strategic planning, timely execution, open communication, and delivering results against company goals
- Diplomatic communication style and experience in working with international stakeholders;
- Demonstrated familiarity with lead responsibility for completing multiple, major and multifaceted projects in different legal or business functioning fields and management of teams, in a timely manner.
- Experience managing a legal department and choosing and managing outside counsel.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
