What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Planner position at TMNJ?

Responsible for developing and managing capacity, production and material plans to insure timely delivery of orders, which meet target inventory levels and maintain continuity of supply to our customers. Manage short and long term planning activities/processes and day-to-day planning including work center scheduling, work order management, incident report management, inventory utilization and order picking/shipment documentation preparation. Manage day-to-day supply issues and proactively identify issues that may affect supply. Interface with Value Stream Leaders and other functional areas to insure a balanced flow of material through the production processes. Interface with external counterparts to understand their needs and translate those requirements into the SAP production plan. Respond to customer inquiries on delivery requests and/or Sales Order delivery acknowledgment. Ensure master data is accurate and updated to ensure reliable MRP/ERP outputs.

Essential Functions:

1. Translate customer requirements into SAP through forecast management and maintenance.

2. Analyze Customer forecasts for net change and identify impact on OST production schedule.

3. Interface with Customers as needed to establish clear communications on supply/demand requirements and to manage changes or projects

4. Maintain and update planning spreadsheets for various product lines supporting MTO and MTS customer forecasts and orders.

5. Participate and Provide inputs to the Sales and Operations Planning process.(S&OP)

6. Create and manage Work Orders from inception to order closeout to maximize material yield, machine efficiency and employee productivity. Investigate and resolve discrepancies.

7. Actively review Aged work orders, provide status and coordinate activities to complete them.

8. Insure Inventory Accuracy through Cycle Counting and Physical Inventories. Investigate and resolve discrepancies.

9. Set weekly production targets for key Work Centers.

10. Develop Work Center schedules and enter them into scheduling systems.

11. Interface with Outside service subcontractors to develop schedules and manage priorities to insure timely and efficient flow of materials throughout the value stream.

12. Manage the Value Stream schedule, setting priorities and generating instructions that maximize material yields.

13. Interface with QA to prioritize Inspection activities and resolve discrepant material issues.

14. Review Incident reports, analyze the impact on the production plan and develop plans to minimize the impact on production throughput.

15. Use Spool approval systems to generate customer pick list and spool labels.

16. Use SAP to generate pro forma invoices.

17. Use various Kit mapping systems to generate kit maps and labels.

18. Manage changes to the systems to insure compliance with customer specifications.

19. Actively provide input to MRB disposition process and work to reduce MRB inventory level below target levels.

20. Review MRP Supply/Demand screens and messages and coordinate actions to resolve the messages.

21. Assists with physical inventories and cycle counting discrepancy resolution.

Objectives / Goals:

1. Create a balanced production plan that meets customer requirements, maximizes capacity utilization and minimizes inventory investments.

2. Standardize processes and systems and document them.

3. Key Metrics – Production Plan On Time delivery, Customer On Time Delivery, WO kitting Variances, Shop Order Closing Variance, Aged Work Order, MRB inventory investments, Inventory Accuracy, Customer Complaints.

Requirements for Position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5-10 years of experience in planning, operations, supply chain or related experience
  • Understanding of ERP/MRP systems and the use of various information systems as a management tool. Experience with SAP is a plus.
  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries through influence, negotiation and partnering
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify critical issues.
  • Ability to prioritize issues to support the customer and supply chain
  • Systems thinking aptitude; able to determine the impact of actions on other areas of the business.
  • Self-directed, highly detail oriented, organized and flexible
  • Ability to plan, organize and lead meetings
  • Effective interpersonal skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
