Urban Planner
Full-Time Position $45,000-$50,000/ year benefits

RESPONSIBILITIES FALL INTO 4 CATEGORIES
1. Toledo Design Collective (TDC) mission support:
- Embrace, promote and play a vital role in advocating the public face of the TDC Mission and Strategic Goals.
- Commit to develop personal goals that align with the TDC Mission and Strategic Goals.
- Foster effective partnerships with other organizations within the Toledo community, to support and grow the TDC Mission and outreach.
2. Urban Planning / Design:
- Neighborhood analysis and mapping
- Mapping needed for project
- Data collection and analysis
- History and analysis
- Research: For project specific items and background information to any grants we are applying for
- Urban Design and Renderings for community visioning
- Attend and participate in meetings with clients
- Public speaking- specifically for and on behalf of projects
3. Engagement Outreach:
- Coordinate events and meetings with neighborhood organizations/ clients
- Set up workshop or meeting materials
- Communicate and interact with members of the communities TDC serves
- Meet and network with TDC’s current and future partner organizations
4. Project Management:
- Develop and coordinate Project Work Plans with the TDC Studio Director.
- Determine and coordinate Project Team formation.
- Coordinate and manage client/community engagement and respond to feedback.
- Provide design, documentation and presentation leadership for TDC projects.
- Maintain project process records; to be presented to TDC Projects Committee monthly.
- Attend TDC Board meetings and other Committee meetings.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- 1-3 years relevant work experience desired (Can include any internship or co-op opportunities during school)
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred in Planning and/or Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or related field.
- Experience in urban planning
- Successful experience working collaboratively on a project team.
- Personal commitment to community-oriented design, social justice and "TDC’s Pledge Against Racial and Systemic Injustices."
- Exhibited interpersonal and facilitation skills including public speaking.
- Proven design and graphic skills.
- Successful experience working collaboratively on a project team.
- Expertise in Adobe CS, ARCGIS, Auto CAD, Sketch-up etc.
- Passion to address urban challenges found in aging industrial cities.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
