What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant I position at Tolmar?
Purpose and Scope
Uses fundamental knowledge of accounting principles and procedures to perform a wide variety of accounting functions in assigned area.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform bank to general ledger transaction matching and bank account reconciliations on a weekly/monthly basis
- Prepare various reports for daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Prepare schedules for internal and external financial audits.
- Prepare journal entries.
- Maintain internal financial and accounting controls.
- Maintain financial records and ensure financial transactions are properly recorded
- Prepare daily invoices.
- Fixed asset accounting, including but not limited to: depreciation calculation, tracking of capital project costs, audits, verbal and written communications with asset custodians, assisting in the preparation of the capital budget.
- Communicate with co-workers, management, vendors and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Research transactions and other issues within the system to either resolve or get assistance from the managers in the department to resolve.
- Assist with maintaining department files.
- Perform various other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Good fundamental knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of computerized accounting software, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and all Microsoft Office applications.
- Skill in effective oral and written communication.
- Skill in effective organization and ability to pay attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Experience in a professional accounting position preferred.
Working Conditions
- Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $28.50 - $31.50 per hour depending on experience.
