Summary
The Fermentation Technician will be responsible for lead the fermentation team. Work will include bacterial strain preservations and fermentations for the manufacture of a bacterial respiration enzyme system.
Key Activities
- Cleaning, sterilizing, and preparing equipment for microbiological fermentation; experience in Clean-In-Place (CIP) and Sterilize-in-Place (SIP) procedures, cGMP requirements, and general hygiene/sanitation is necessary for these tasks.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize fermentation processes to improve efficiency, yield, and product quality.
- Creates and blends chemical and nutrient ingredients on a large scale to begin the fermentation process; Chemical processing and/or chemical engineering experience is helpful with these tasks.
- Monitors microbial growth parameters, such as pH and oxygen levels, and adjusts equipment settings to maintain optimal cell growth.
- Handles various chemical ingredients, some are corrosive materials, to maintain pH and prevent foaming during the fermentation process.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to accurately operate fermenters, centrifuges, and spray drying equipment.

- Knowledge and ability to scale-up/scale-down fermentations.
Preferred Skills
- Demonstrate basic skills in effective time management to meet given deadlines.
- Strong understanding of the connection between microbial physiology and process performance.
Educations & Experience
- Required | Two-year Applied Science degree.
- 6 months experience working fermentations in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of the connection between microbial physiology and process performance.
