Job Summary:
The grocery manager will be responsible for procuring high quality product, maintaining positive relationships with vendors and suppliers, merchandising and stocking products, collaborating with the wine team for pairings, and providing excellent customer service.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and run a boutique grocery concept
- Collaborate with Wineside team on purchasing specialty items to complement food menu, catering needs, and wine bar.
- Coordinate and identify suppliers of product, negotiate price and quantity terms, and ensure adequate supply of high-quality products.
- Executes product selection, assortment planning, promotional planning, and inventory productivity management.
- Develop menu for Wineside catering
- Select vendors based upon their ability to provide a continuous supply of product; overall service level; responsiveness to the market as shown through product innovation; quality and value of product; relationships with competitors; and their understanding of the marketplace.
- Oversee ordering, purchasing of ingredients, and stocking, ensuring that necessary ingredients are available and as fresh as possible while also minimizing spoilage and waste.
- Maintain relationships with vendors by resolving problems with invoicing, product, or delivery to ensure quality service and longevity of relationships.
- Oversee product receiving to ensure accuracy in invoicing, pricing, credits and returns, coding, and invoice routing
- Develops, implements and monitors seasonal products (for national and regional holidays, sporting events, etc.) to drive interest, sales and margin
- Run grocery retail operations to achieve department sales, profit dollars and growth objectives.
- Closely follows all safety and sanitation procedures.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive product knowledge, including production, distribution, seasonal availability, and trends.
- Ability to create and negotiate price.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to operate, where needed, with limited direction.
Education and Experience:
- Experience in high-end grocery or cheese shop
- Advanced knowledge of cheeses, cured meats, wine pairings, etc.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
