Description:

The Operations Manager in Oregon will be responsible for managing all aspects of the wood biomass fuels production activities. This person has ultimate responsibilities for the operations budget, ensuring production targets are met, reporting and record keeping, EHS and permit compliance, and leading the safety efforts of the organization. This person will work with the CEO to set production goals and objectives, develop budgets, establish safety programs, and ensure environmental compliance.

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 20 years of progressive manufacturing operations management experience. 20 years experience in wood products, bioenergy or chemical manufacturing
  • Ability to be on-site full time (not a work from remote location job).
  • Ability to build relationships with partners, vendors, and other organizations
  • Experience budgeting and forecasting and familiarity with business and financial principles.
  • Financial planning, capital budgets and project management skills
  • Must be a legal US resident. Unfortunately, there is no visa sponsorship offered for this role.
  • Must drive the safety programs and safety and compliance culture for all operations.
  • Must have computer software experience including Word and Excel.
  • Must have engineering skill set including the ability to read engineering drawings as well as experience in operating and examining production equipment for faults.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Must understand project management and have the leadership, supervisory, and organizational skills necessary to ensuring timely and cost-effective production activities.
  • Proven ability to establish and foster a safety culture and production focus
  • Strong leadership skills required. Must be able to build internal talent and foster a culture of collaboration and accountability.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the recommendation of needed resources to ensure compliant operations and targeted production volumes and timelines.
  • Analyze, source, and provide solutions to manufacturing challenges or problems
  • Be accountable for procurement of materials, supplies, equipment, contractor resources and services required for operations.
  • Collaborate with other staff to develop and implement new product strategies.
  • Conduct assessments to identify mechanical or process limitations that can be addressed to improve efficiency or production capability.
  • Design and implement plans for the cost-effective use of material and labor resources to achieve operations targets.
  • Develop and implement capital projects.
  • Drive a strong safety culture and ensure the company safety manual and procedures are implemented.
  • Ensure all appropriate EHS and compliance data are collected and reported to the responsible parties
  • Ensure all operations and quality control records, logs and data are maintained.
  • Formulate strategic plans and operational objectives, including capital projects.
  • Improve operational management systems, processes, and best practices.
  • Monitor and control processes or emergency response practices to ensure adequate response in the event of a problem.
  • Oversee the hiring, training, and review of technical production employees.
  • Provide leadership to manufacturing personnel to ensure operations and within budget and on schedule.
