Description:
The Lumber Salesman in Oregon will provide sales for softwood lumber in Oregon.
Requirements:
- Experience in the lumber industry and knowledge of lumber markets is preferred above all other requirements. 5 years of strategic sales and account management experience in B2B sales, preferably in wood products or specialty lumber products
- College degree in sales, marketing or similar area
- Adaptable to changing markets and industry trends; comfortable with sudden directional and strategic changes
- Must be a legal US resident. Unfortunately, there is no visa sponsorship offered for this role.
- Previous experience working with logistics
- Proven successful record of understanding financial impacts related to sales decisions
- Some travel required for account management and industry events, including occasional weekend travel
- Valid Drivers' license
- Work closely with a small team in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities:
- Account management of current customer base; continuing to develop and strengthen established relationships.
- Adaptable to changing markets and industry trends; comfortable with sudden directional and strategic changes
- Analyze and manage customer base according to the best return on current inventory
- Collaborate with various departments on market trends and initiatives to plan current and future sales functions
- Daily sales and marketing of lumber products
- Previous experience working with logistics
- Proven successful record of understanding financial impacts related to sales decisions
- Quote and negotiate product prices based on knowledge of current market conditions
- Research and obtain current and future market information and trends
- Sell primarily by telephone commodity products to established and new customers
- Travel for face-to-face meetings with multi-location customers
- Understand manufacturing dynamics to deliver realistic quotes to customer base
- Use knowledge of lumber markets to achieve highest value return to Mills
- Visit Mills to develop relationships with operations and acquire a better understanding of the product
- Work closely with a small team in a fast-paced environment
