JOB SUMMARY


Employee in this position will grind, sand, clean/polish/trim objects or parts, to finish, correct defects, or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using both hand and power tools 



B.        ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


1.    Maintain production within quality standards

2.    Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures

3.    Complete all required safety training

4.    Perform clean-ups, and maintain area cleanliness

5.    Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work area

6.    Assist Plant Manager and Supervisor as needed

7.    To work as a team with others in plant

8.    Work any overtime as needed

9.    Grinds, sand, clean/polish/trim objects or parts, to finish, correct defects, or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using both hand and power tools

10.    Marks defects for repair

11.    Moves controls to adjust, start, or stop equipment during grinding and polishing processes

12.    Selects tools and/or abrasives, according to materials, sizes and shapes of pieces, amount of stock to be removed, finished specified, and steps in finishing processes 

13.    Measures and marks objects, or parts to ensure grinding and polishing standards are met

14.    Verifies quality of finished work pieces by inspecting them

15.    Trims, scrapes, or de-burrs parts using both hand and power equipment

16.    Removes completed work pieces from equipment or work tables

17.    Loads or adjusts work pieces on to equipment or work tables

18.    Monitors gauges and dials to ensure equipment is working properly, performs routine maintenance

19.    Experience in driving fork truck 

20.    Any and all other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor

21.    Your attendance during scheduled work hours is an essential function of this position

D.    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    

1.    Balancing - maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching

2.    Bending and stooping - bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, 8 hours per day, intermittently

3.    Light carrying - physically transporting items weighing less than 15 pounds from one location to another, 8 hours per day, intermittently

4.    Moderate carrying – items weighing 15 to 44 pounds, 8 hours per day, intermittently

5.    Fingering – picking, pinching, or otherwise working primarily with fingers, rather than with the whole hand or arm, 8 hours per day, intermittently

6.    Grasping - applying pressure to an object with fingers, including thumb and palm to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects, 8 hours per day, intermittently

7.    Multi-limb coordination - the ability to coordinate two or more limbs i.e., two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm, while standing

8.    Arm-hand steadiness - the ability to keep the hand and arm steady while moving the arm or while holding the arm and hand in one position

9.    Lifting – raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position, 8 hours per day, intermittently

10.    Light lifting – raising objects under 15 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another, 8 hours per day, intermittently

11.    Moderate lifting – raising objects 15-44 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another, 8 hours per day, intermittently

12.    Heavy lifting – raising objects 45 pounds and over from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another, 8 hours per day, intermittently


E.    MOBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    

1.    Standing - 8 hours per day

2.    Repetitive motion – substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers for sustained periods of time, 8 hours per day, intermittently

3.    Control precision – the ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions

4.    Heavy work – exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects


F.    VISUAL / HEARING ACUITY REQUIREMENTS


1.    Visual requirement – employee is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as operate machines and power tools, where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach

2.    Hearing requirement - perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.  The ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discriminations of sounds






G.    ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS


1.    The employee is subject to vibration.  Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body

2.    The employee is subject to noise.  There is sufficient noise to cause the employee to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise

3.    The employee is subject to hazards.  This includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, heat and/or exposure to chemicals

4.    The employee is subject to atmospheric conditions.  One of more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin:  fumes, odors, dust, mists, or gases


H.    JOB KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


1.    Employee must have the ability to count accurately, add, subtract, multiply, divide and to record, balance, and check results for accuracy

2.    The ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines

3.    Employee must have the ability to apply common sense to performing job

4.    Employee must have the ability to tell when something is wrong, or is likely to go wrong


I.    MENTAL REQUIREMENTS-COMPREHENSION


1.    Employee must have the ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information

3.    The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
