Controller

Position Summary:

   As the controller you would have the unique opportunity to lead and guide our accounting team comprised of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll & Benefits team members. The ideal candidate possesses a desire to lead ethically & effectively through strong verbal communication, and organizational skills. This individual has strong analytical capability, along with extensive experience in accounting principles, an expert in tax laws, skilled at forecasting through financial reporting, and a well-rounded action-oriented leader.

This individual has a desire to lead and is passionate about being a part of a results & detailed oriented Organization. Intrinsic motivation fuels this person to help others grow and see the results of being a highly effective leader.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operations.
• Effective communication to accounting team and executive leadership.
• Will ethically lead & guide the accounting team & financial responsibilities daily.
• Preparing financial reporting.
• Coordinating with vendors & consultants for accurate financial reporting.
• Providing executive leadership with all vital information to the decision-making process.
• Managing the budget process.
• Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes.
• Responsible for ethical & effective accounting and internal control systems.
• Responsible for the effectiveness of accounting technology.
• Developing, monitoring, and communicating business performance metrics.
• Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance.
• Hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting staff.

Required Experience:

• Experience as a controller for 7 years.
• Experience in leading a team to achieve results.
• Knowledgeable in all aspects of GAAP.
• Experience in tax planning and implementing plans.
• Thorough understanding of Tax and federal regulations.
• Experience managing and overseeing all accounting roles.
• Successful track record of forecasting financial results and metrics.
• Thorough understanding of creating and filing financial statements.
• Knowledgeable with QuickBooks and NetSuite (or equivalent – SalesForce, etc)

Experience to Stand Out:

• Master’s degree in Business Administration
• Certifications: CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), and CIA (Certified Internal Auditor).
• Accounting experience in Marketing industry.
• Experience as a controller for a firm of 100 employees.
• Experience in coaching and development.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Master’s degree in Business Administration (Preferred)
