What You'll Do:
- Work closely with the Functional Safety Manager and Torc engineers to ensure ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) standards are implemented
- Collaborate locally and globally to evaluate Functional Safety deliverables and lead Torc engineers to meet an acceptable safety level
- Define areas for improvement within the designs and work with design teams to achieve the goals
- Consult on Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments (HARAs) for the department
- Performs FTA, FMEA analysis and trains other engineers
- Lead safety requirement definition, and evaluation of system architectures and designs with respect to safety goals
- Performs tasks laid out in ISO 26262:2018 with emphasis on parts 4,5 and 6
- Designs safety mechanisms to prevent latent faults
- Support the creation and implementation of all Functional Safety work products: Item Definitions, Safety Plans, Risk Assessments, Safety Concepts and test cases
- Support team with providing training to increasing engineering knowledge of ISO 26262
- Identify gaps related to ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and ISO 21448 (Safety of the Intended Function) and communicate to management
- Partner with Quality Engineering to ensure deliverables for ISO 21448 (Safety of the Intended Function) are met
- Support the development of cyber security requirements for autonomous trucks
- Collaborate with system design and architecture development teams on specification development for our Autonomous Trucking program
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field required with 6 years of engineering experience
- Excellent knowledge of automotive, heavy duty truck, or aerospace industry products
- Demonstrated proficiency in the application of ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) or IEC 61508
- Must be well-organized, able to handle multiple, detailed tasks, and work professionally with various levels of management
- Excellent project management and leadership skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills
- Detail oriented, reliable, and self-motivated
- Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change

- ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) Certification preferred
- Knowledge of or experience in the application of ISO 21448 (Safety of the Intended Function) preferred
- Strong technical proficiency with products preferred
- Languages: English (fluent), German (intermediate) preferred, additional language(s) appreciated
