Total Safety is looking for a Shipping & Receiving Specialist to join their safety conscious team! The Shipping & Receiving Specialist performs a variety of tasks including receiving, warehousing, inventory control and shipping.

Essential Duties:
Receives inbound shipments, unpacks if necessary and examines and verifies shipped items with purchase orders. Enters receipt information into the system. Confirms whether material will be shipped to customer and prints shipping documents as required.
Pulls orders from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves in a timely and accurate manner. Counts or weighs and records number of units to be shipped.
Reviews work instructions to determine packaging and shipping requirements. Pays careful attention to customer specific requirements or special instructions.
Determines size of container needed and forms cardboard boxes or other shipping containers. May use hand and/or power tools to assemble shipping crates according to customer and company specifications.
Inserts product into bags or containers using spacers, fillers and protective padding per customer and company specifications. Verifies counts and weighs shipments.
If shipment is other than “our truck,” determines the most efficient and cost-effective method of shipping and optimizes use of carriers for which routes, schedules and rates have been contracted.
If the order is delivered by freight service, they use the appropriate system to generate shipping documents and affixes labels to bags and boxes or marks crates as required. Calculates and posts declared values

Arranges for pick-up times with dispatchers as needed to ensure delivery to customers on time.
Uses dolly, flatbed, forklift, or other material handling equipment to transport containers to and from shipping, receiving and warehouse areas. Ensures proper handling and storage of inventory items. Assists with loading and unloading trucks.
Stocks inventory according to established safety and operating procedures. Verifies correct location, ensures that location is clearly labeled and notifies Lead or Supervisor when space is not adequate. Ensures that security for the warehouse and other inventory locations is maintained.
Assists with creating new inventory locations and labels as needed. Assists with inventory cycle counts and works to track down overages and shortages as required.
Maintains an organized and easily accessible inventory of shipping supplies and labels.
Notifies appropriate individual when packaging supplies are low and retrieves and re-stocks additional supplies as needed. Mandatory annual inventory count team.
Assists others as needed.
Working Environment:
Shop and yard environment. May be frequently exposed to wet, humid, outside weather conditions and vibration.
Educational Requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
