What does a Fleet Specialist do?
The Fleet Specialist role contributes to the success of TOTE Maritime Alaska as an integral part of the Fleet Team in providing excellent customer service by maintaining fleet related systems, coordinating with various departments for equipment needs, and communicating critical information to the team and analyzing data.
Main Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Compile and summarize data and reports from automated systems, databases and spreadsheets
- Engage with Customer Service and Cargo Management teams for trailer needs
- Cross collaboration with Commercial for fleet updates and forecasting
- Assist with fleet strategy to build and maintain for annual capital review periods
- Reconcile new equipment and perform responsibilities for Vessel Certification
- Assist/manage Capital Asset Request (CAR) forms
- Cross train and provide coverage as needed for Fleet and Inland Departments
- Yard inventory management
- Reconciliation of multiple back office and terminal operating systems including drayage payables, and finance data analysis
- Maintain trailer agreements, lease contracts and amendments
- Lead and assist other department teams by providing fleet analysis and trend data to support customer needs or operational goals
- Collaboration with Commercial, Customer Service, Cargo Management, Inland and Fleet on an ongoing basis
The ideal candidate will have:
- Two years of experience in customer service or the transportation industry with an associates degrees a plus
- Must have a track record of high achievement and customer satisfaction
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills able to multi-task, prioritize and great organization.
- Must be a phenomenal teammate and provide support to all departments.
- Ability to work with a high level of accuracy, handle complex and difficult situations in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer literate, with the ability to use standard software applications and be proficient in Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Work, PowerPoint, and Excel)
