Background

Netspend is rapidly expanding our program management services within existing retail verticals we serve and exploring new retail verticals where our propositions could deliver value to potential partners. We are uniquely positioned with existing prepaid products, prepaid and debit card program management offerings, a proprietary processing platform accessible by modern open API’s, real-time payment technology, live agent servicing and much more. Our full range of card products and account issuing capabilities enable our partners to create customized payment experiences for their customers and develop unique and engaging experiences to drive greater customer value and insights.

Position Summary

Netspend is seeking an experienced deal hunter, highly motivated, Sr. Director of Partnership Development to grow our portfolio of retail partners for both distribution and program management opportunities. This senior position is expected to directly prospect, develop new opportunities and work closely with existing channel business leaders to close new partnerships. This is a high visibility role requiring the ability to engage with multiple levels within partner organizations, including senior level executives, and work cross-functionally on sales solutioning internally as needed.

This role will focus primarily on omni-channel solutions to increase store distribution and digital expansion in a mobile first approach. Demonstrating a strong understanding of the retail technological landscape, loyalty programs and payments ecosystems in medium to large brands is required to navigate and develop opportunities successfully at scale.

This role is expected to understand Netspend products and technological capabilities, assess potential alignment to our partner’s business goals through deal structuring and financial modeling, and effectively communicate the partnership value throughout each sales stage.

This role reports to the Vice President, Retail & Brand Partnerships.

Responsibilities

Create and close new retail partnerships and meet sales goals. Critical responsibilities include:

  • Bring a collaborative mindset and a “lean forward” approach with all team members
  • Build a robust pipeline of opportunities through a combination of direct and inbound sources
  • Demonstrate a keen sense of decision making, consensus building and sales momentum
  • Create, nurture and sustain partnership relationships and decision makers
  • Develop and present powerful value propositions to partners
  • Manage opportunities through the entire process from discovery, documentation of business requirements, pricing, projection modeling and contracting
  • Collaborate with marketing and PR to increase awareness of our offerings, to act as an industry voice and to generate new opportunities
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge of the competitive landscape
  • Be a knowledge expert regarding the services, technology and other elements offered by Netspend
  • Work closely with Sales Enablement team and Strategy lead for approach and fit
  • Work closely with finance team to build client and internal projection models
  • Work closely with legal team to negotiate and contract with partners

Requirements

We are seeking a proven closer with direct experience in the retail technology and retail payment industry. This individual should come with transferable skills, the ability to ramp up quickly and a desire to work independently.

  • Minimum 5 years of payments industry experience in a sales, business development or partnership role
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA Preferred
  • Ability to engage with C-suite
  • Ability to engage with developers and technical product managers
  • Strong technical and payments knowledge and the ability to learn quickly
  • Creative problem solving skills and the ability to quickly assess opportunities
  • An established contact network in the payments industry
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate business concepts
  • Demonstrate adaptability with a positive attitude and problem solving mindset
  • Ability and desire to travel
