What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Works Foreman position at TOWN OF CANTON?
The Town of Canton has an immediate opening for the position of Public Works Foreman. This is a full-time position with competitive wages and benefits. This position is responsible for supervision & assisting crew to maintain roads, drainage systems, outdoor recreational facilities, and cemeteries throughout the Town, as well as general support for various community events. Duties for this position include snow plowing and removal, road and sidewalk repair, tree and brush trimming, and other duties as assigned. Extra hours required during the winter season. Administrative duties include but not limited to approval of payroll, E-911 addressor, cost estimating, budget oversight, etc.
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, team player with a high school diploma or GED equivalent, valid Maine Commercial Driver License (CDL), a clean licensed driving history, the ability to lift heavy objects and to work in a variety of weather conditions. Prior experience with operation in or around heavy equipment and specialty equipment, such as a chain saw or dump truck required. Applicants must also pass a background check and drug/alcohol screening.
