DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe Town of Clayton Water Resources Department is essential in providing our community with clean, high-quality drinking water. Clayton's Water Infrastructure and Water Professionals are responsible for significant portions of the Town of Clayton's Water Cycle. As the Water Reclamation Superintendent, you will plan for twenty-four-hour operations of a plant to treat and dispose of wastewater in an environmentally safe manner. This is a leadership position that requires a highly skilled individual to Operator in ResponsibleCharge (ORC) of the plant in ensuring that the permitted levels are met in the discharge and in disposal of wasted sludge. Duties included but are not limited to: Plans, organizes and directs the work of employees engaged in plant operations and process control, industrial pretreatment, laboratory analysis, and preventive maintenance and repair of plant equipment and facilities.Serves as operator in responsible charge ensuring the town meets its permitted discharge levels; reviews laboratory reports for operational performance of the plant and oversees changes in the chemical and biological processes of the plant.Serves as ORC for the land application of biosolids programs; schedules sampling; prepares reports; conducts field surveys; coordinates with farmers; oversees contracted transportation and land application of biosolids.Participates with management in planning for current and future capacity needs and plant modifications for increased efficiency or regulatory compliance; presents information at Council planning work sessions.Manages and serves as ORC for the Town’s reclaimed water program including reporting equipment maintenance, contract hauling, and consulting services.Researches and recommends strategies for meeting new regulatory requirements.Manages the pretreatment program, researches and recommends provisions of the Town’s sewer use ordinance.Oversees the collections of industrial samples and the issuance of industrial permits.Participates in establishing effective working relationships with industries in pretreatment program.Establishes, maintains, and analyzes a variety of reports as required and as needed for effective management decision-making.Supervises laboratory operations; ensures state annual recertifications; supervises contracted or in-house analysis of more complex properties and industrial samples.
