Water Conservation Coordinator. Are you someone who gets excited about preserving water in the Arizona desert? This position may be for you! We are currently looking for our next Water Conservation Coordinator to lead our water conservation department and provide strategic planning for sustainable living here in Gilbert. Some of the essential functions of this position include: - Administers and oversees the Town's water conservation staff and programs in accordance with the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) requirements including working with local and regional conservation agencies, other municipalities, agencies, the public, and water system customers and users; recommends and implements modifications to elements of the conservation programs;
- Determines program direction, performance goals, and identifies areas for improvement to ensure implementation of quality customer service and cost-effective water saving strategies;
- Supervises water conservation staff to ensure outlined performance goals and program plan are being met;
- Reviews Town policies and procedures affecting water use and makes recommendations for new or revised policies, procedures, and regulations to support water resources or conservation goals;
- Advises on water supply shortage responses and demand management strategies,
- Reviews and approves development plans to ensure compliance with water conservation ordinances;
- Performs timely data analysis to track water conservation savings, monitor performance metrics, and assist with special projects;
- Oversees water conservation messaging and outreach to the public and Town staff (water e-newsletter, water blog, website); assists in the development, production, and distribution of program promotional materials for traditional and social media outlets, participates in fairs, open house and exhibits;
- Responsible for the water conservation zero based budget. Prepares water conservation budget and requests new funding for projects that advance water conservation goals in a cost-effective manner;
- Leads and represents Gilbert on water conservation matters. Acts as backup to Water Resources Manager with regional agencies, other municipalities, and state regulators;
- Project Manager for Water Conservation Master Plan and other special projects as directed;
- Other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Public Administration, or a closely related field;
- 5 years of experience in a mixture of water conservation programs and program administration;
- 2 years of experience of progressively responsible leadership experience and knowledge of the water resources industry in Arizona;
- A thorough knowledge of water conservation program planning, organization and administration in a municipal or similar environment;
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work;
- Valid AZ Driver's License.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with time being split between telecommuting from home and working in the office. Telecommuting privileges are approved at the sole discretion of the supervisor and department management; as such, the department reserves the right to modify or discontinue telecommuting arrangements at any point. This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Exempt – ineligible for overtime compensation. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Light Work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
This position may require reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
