Morristown EMS is currently hiring a Chief of EMS to oversee, direct, and manage all operations of the department. The Chief performs professional, administrative, and technical work related to the Town’s emergency medical services including response to emergency medical and trauma calls and mutual aid, supervision of town EMS employees, development and implementation of enhancements and coverage for EMS activities, membership recruitment and retention plan, organization of training and recertification for volunteers and employees, coordination of community EMS interaction with Copley Hospital, EMS District #4 and State EMS, and public education initiatives for safety and preventive care. The Chief is under the general supervision of the Town Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities:
•Direct and coordinate operations for the EMS department including planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating all activities within.
•Manage and direct the actions of the Assistant Chief, Paramedics, EMT's, drivers, and other staff.
•Oversee day-to-day operations to include the quality and quantity of the response to emergency medical calls.
•Render pre-hospital emergency care according to established medical protocols.
•Drive the ambulance to emergency scenes, transport accident victims and medical patients to hospitals.
•Fill any role required on an emergency medical services response.
•Plan and attend meetings as needed with EMS department, Town partners, Copley Hospital, and other organizations.
•Engage in planning activity to maintain the District’s strategic plan, standard of coverage, and other plans.
Requirements:
•Thorough knowledge of emergency medical response practices.
•AEMT certification or higher.
•Certified AHA CPR Instructor (or obtain status within one year) to teach AHA approved CPR courses as needed.
•Three to five years prior experience in emergency medical services.
•Prior experience managing emergency medical response team.
•Valid Driver’s License.
Pay Classification: $28.87-$42.45/hour commensurate with experience and certification level.
