Starting Salary Depending on Experience and Qualifications
Under close supervision, performs general maintenance on Town Fleet vehicles at an entry skilled level, and completes related assignments including completing and maintaining records of work scheduled or performed.
- Services and repairs various systems on vehicles and equipment.
- Maintains the shop, office, and fuel island area by inventory and cleaning of tools, and equipment, emptying trash and sweeping and mopping of floors.
- Performs general maintenance and repair activities on various types of vehicles and equipment.
- Performs Preventative Maintenance inspections on equipment and vehicles by performing oil changes, changing flat tires, and performing routine repairs.
- Provides input in decision for repairs that will be completed in-house or sent to dealers or outside repair shops.
- Routes vehicles to dealers or repair shops as required.
- Inventories, inspects and cleans tools, supplies, parts, and shop equipment to ensure safety, longevity, and sufficient inventory to support operations.
- Provides customer service to vehicle operators/owners by informing them of upcoming, ongoing, and completed maintenance activities related to their assigned fleet asset.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written communication.
- Ability to effectively diagnose and troubleshoot required maintenance and repairs on Town Fleet equipment and vehicles.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to keep and maintain accurate records using the Town’s fleet maintenance program.
- Ability to maintain accurate records of work projects and supply usage.
- Ability to operate assigned equipment and vehicles and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines and follow up on work assignments with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demands.
- Knowledge of equipment and vehicles.
- Knowledge of Town and Department policies and procedures.
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office suite and the Town’s Work Order and Fleet Maintenance programs.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- A High School diploma or GED.
- One (1) year experience performing routine operator level automotive maintenance.
- Must possess a valid Class D Arizona driver license upon the first day of employment.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Any ASE certifications in the A, C, G and T series.
- CDL Driver’s License.
- Work is performed primarily in a shop environment and/or occasional field environment with some travel from site to site; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions; work and/or walk on various types of surfaces including slippery or uneven surfaces and rough terrain.
- Must be able to lift or move over fifty (50) pounds.
- Regular, daily attendance is an essential function for this position.
- May be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends.
- Within the first 18 months of employment must be able to obtain ASE certifications or manufacturer specific equivalent for A5 – Brakes and Tire Inspection, Balancing, and Replacement and A6 – Electrical/Electronic Systems
- This position is considered a Safety Sensitive position and is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing as required by FTA CFR 49.
Salary : $37,923 - $42,663
