Overview:
Towne & Country Management is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our dynamic team. As a pivotal member of our finance leadership, you will be instrumental in overseeing the financial operations of our managed communities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with the executive team, contributing to the evolution of finance at Towne & Country while fostering career development for our finance staff.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Operations Oversight:
• Collaborate with the VP, Sr. Controller to supervise day-to-day financial operations, leading a team of both office and remote accountants.
• Take ownership of critical areas, including the general ledger, cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, annual budget, and audit preparation for our diverse portfolio of managed communities.
2. Process Improvement and Efficiency:
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance overall efficiency within the finance department.
• Prioritize changes effectively and ensure successful implementation across the team.
3. Technology Integration:
• Become an industry-specific technology solutions expert, identifying areas for investment and playing a key role in software implementation that impacts financial and accounting processes.
4. Personnel Management:
• Manage all personnel-related matters for accountants, including staffing, hiring, salary adjustments, and annual performance reviews.
• Act as an escalation point for client Boards or Owners, providing financial guidance and support.
5. Client Interaction:
• Join Board meetings to present monthly financials or annual budgets, addressing any inquiries and ensuring transparent communication.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
• CPA certification is required.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in property management or real estate.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (GAAP).
• Experience in fund accounting/property management accounting is advantageous.
• Proficient in financial management software and tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive under pressure, meet deadlines, and lead a team effectively.
