Who we’re looking for
The Plastics Production Engineering department is seeking a technically-minded and results-driven Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead equipment installation activities for the Plastics shops at our North American Manufacturing Facilities. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the development of equipment specifications, standards, and vendor buyoffs.
Reporting to the Equipment Planning Manager, the person in this role will support the Plastics Production Engineering department's objective to launch high-quality new model plastic components to the North American Manufacturing Centers.
What you’ll be doing
- Creating and managing schedules, budgets, and equipment procurement plans for multiple projects
- Assisting in developing/leading/monitoring project plan strategies to improve the department/Toyota’s overall performance.
- Reporting to Manager, and Senior Managers on project status and clear explanation of complex technical issues.
- Leading equipment installation projects at Toyota facilities in North America with a team of Engineers, seibi, and NAMC members.
- Reviewing equipment drawings, specifications, and standards
- Providing technical support to North American Manufacturing Centers (plants) in the areas of equipment
- Utilizing experience in plant planning project management, construction, and equipment design to ensure projects are designed and built to quality, cost, schedule, and safety KPIs
- Providing Customer Satisfaction with proper communication and consensus building
Qualifications
What you bring
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or 3 years of experience in automotive manufacturing
- Experience managing project schedules, budgets, and quality to successful completion
- Intermediate level experience in computer skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience in PLC
- Experience writing scope of work, technical specification, and/or procedures
- Experience with vendor management
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and shutdowns to support project milestones
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time within the US, Japan, Canada, and Mexico for project activities
Added bonus if you have
- Experience with automotive assembly, including process planning/layout development and TPS for plastic part assembly
- Technical knowledge of Injection Molding processes and equipment
- Experience with AutoCAD, CATIA, or other drawing software, including the ability to read, interpret, and modify both 2D and 3D drawings
- Experience in robotic automation or system integration
- Experience in industrial mechanical systems (piping, chilled water, compressed air, etc)
- Experience in industrial power systems (power distribution systems, 480VAC and higher)
