JOB TITLE: Trial Paralegal – Litigation Team

SUMMARY: Supports attorneys in their practice by ensuring that all litigation and trial deadlines are met; help organize team calendar based on priority of trial requests, firm's attorney needs and regular case demands; ensure experts are hired, timely disclosed and are available for purposes of depositions and trial; communicate with client regarding upcoming trial; coordinate court ordered trial mediations; communicate with appellate counsel regarding appellate issues; coordinate motions for summary judgment, Daubert hearings; coordinate opposing parties’ expert depositions; create trial binders; order transcripts upon request; supervises completion of other team support staff tasks to guide all cases to trial readiness; assist lead attorneys with meetings as requested by lead and supervising attorneys; communicate with lead and supervising attorneys about any issues in timely completion of any litigation related events.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Works collaboratively with assigned attorneys and support staff in preparing legal documentation and/or processing transactions.

· Communicate with clients and expert witnesses regarding upcoming trials.

· Hires expert witnesses and coordinate inspections of the property at issue.

· Issue trial subpoenas, when needed.

· Maintain detailed digital notes of all trial related events.

· Coordinate expert depositions.

· Coordinate pre-trial hearings on motions in limine, pending motions for summary judgment and Daubert motions.

· Coordinate pre-trial mediation.

· Communicate with appellate counsel regarding pending appeals.

· Prepares joint stipulation, jury instructions and trial binders; coordinates trial exhibits.

· Provides general logistical help for purposes of trial.

· Assists in development and implementation of office systems and trial procedures as needed.

· Assists with special projects as assigned.

· Communicates with discovery and team paralegals regarding discovery cutoff deadlines.

· Communicates with judicial assistants regarding trial dates.

· Coordinates interpreters and court reporters for purposes of trial.

· Demonstrates a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.

Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:

· Two to three years related experience or equivalent.

· Strong research skills.

· 4 year degree in relevant course work a plus.

· Paralegal Certification a plus.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Excellent grammatical and spelling skills.

· Proficient on Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.

· Commitment to excellence and high standards.

· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.

· Strong interpersonal skills.

· Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions

· Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.

· Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions

· Creative, flexible, and innovative team player

· Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.

· Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

· Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand Spanish.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $1.00 per year
