We are looking for an experienced Buying Manager who is searching to do what they'll love - inventory management and replenishment! Do you have experience in buying? Do you love food? If so, read on! Trader Joe's is unlike any place you've ever worked. Trust us on that. The qualified Buying Manager has at least 5 years of buying experience, at least 2 years in a leadership role and is a raving fan of the Trader Joe's concept. A Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred. This role is based in our office in Monrovia, CA.
The Buying Manager is responsible for:
- Developing, maintaining and conducting all Buyer training and associate training materials for buying processes, roles, and responsibilities for all buyer categories as well as works with Buyers to reinforce communication and item statuses.
- Streamlining and driving the forecast planning activities while supporting Category Management Team for Fearless Flyer, New Items, and fourth quarter Holiday item projections.
- Analyzing item performance to identify trends and opportunities to drive sales, promote freshness, increase inventory turns, and reduce TOS. Actively addressing and placing into action solutions to prevent against long weeks of supply that deteriorate product freshness and increase distribution center shares.
- Partnering with the Supply Chain and Import teams to uncover cost saving opportunities for transportation and load consolidation across multiple categories.
- Analyzing weekly sales reports to identify, understand, and address Forecasts, Fill Rate, TOS, Weeks of Supply, and Gross Profit Trends.
- Working collaboratively with other departments including Category Managers, Supply Chain, Operations and Imports.
The Buying Manager has:
- 5 years of inventory planning/buying experience.
- 2 years leading, managing and coaching high performing teams.
- Exposure to replenishment buying programs and proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication, prioritization and relationship building skills.
- Ability to empower teams and identify opportunities for development and growth.
