What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Trainer position at Traffic Plan?
The Regional Trainer is responsible for the onboarding, orientation and training of all new Traffic Plan employees as well as other required trainings for the PA region. This role may also support NJ/MD/VA when needed. The trainer will ensure that new employees are properly and adequately onboarded and oriented to perform their duties and responsibilities as an American Traffic Safety Services Association certified employee. This role works closely with Human Resources and Operations and includes a company vehicle for travel.

- Instruct employees on Traffic Plan Policies
- Instruct employees on the importance of safety in the work environment
- Assist Human Resources in their onboarding process including answering questions and reviewing the completed paperwork to be sent to HR.
- Conduct training classes defensive driving and van operations (Nation Safety Council – Coaching the Van Driver 3 (CVD3) Course
- Ride along with new employees as they drive our company van and give them instruction on backing up the vehicle safely and properly.
- Complete hands-on instruction in the deployment of TTC signs and stands as well as setting up proper tapers.
- Train and Certify new flaggers and recertify existing flaggers in the ATSSA Flagging.
- File the appropriate paperwork with certifying and registering flaggers with ATSSA
- Take ID photographs of all new hires and send via email to HR.
- Print out all ATSSA Flagger cards and CVD3 certificates and send to the appropriate Traffic Plan office.
- Scan and e-file all important paperwork including the ATSSA Test cover page, ATSSA Card, ATTSA ability certification form, CVD3 certificate
- Develop a 3 hour block of instruction for the annual employee winter safety meeting
- Teach and certify flaggers working for outside companies and file all required applications with ATSSA
- Develop training classes for outside companies
- Teach VDOT Basic and Intermediate classes for employees in Virginia and file all necessary paperwork with VDOT
- Continually update computer training files and records
Requirements
Supervisory Responsibility -This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment- Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme heat, near moving mechanical parts and includes occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and to vibration. Maybe exposed to hazardous tolls and equipment.
Physical Demands - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand for long periods; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work-This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. Occasional overtime may be required.
Travel- Overnight travel as well as local day travel maybe required for this position.
Required Education and Experience -High school diploma/GED and 2-3 years of supervisor experience
Preferred Education and Experience - Associates Degree
Additional Eligibility Qualifications - ATSSA Flagging Instructor, Pennsylvania DOT Basic & Intermediate Work Zone Safety instructor, TCC Rutgers UNIV.
