About the role

As a Business Analyst, you will help manage data and software products throughout their lifecycle including the design phase, the development process, testing, deployment and ongoing maintenance. 

You will work with internal customers to define requirements and will be responsible for documenting business requirements, translating them into specifications, and working closely with the development team to deliver the technical solution to the end users.

In this role, you will become the subject matter expert on Trailstone’s proprietary application suite and provide technical expertise to build effective, scalable solutions that align with Trailstone’s development standards and strategic objectives.

What you will be doing:

• Lead discovery sessions with stakeholders to identify business needs and near to long term business objectives
• Ability to clearly understand customers’ needs, gather and document business requirements and convert them into a functional design specification for new internally-developed software products as well as enhancements to existing products
• Work closely with the development team to translate the requirements into the technical solution, documenting the technical details in JIRA and Confluence
• Learn both the functionality and technical implementation of Trailstone’s different business applications including data sources, integrations and backend services
• Create test cases and perform testing activities including QA and smoke testing
• Assist with release planning and support developers during implementation
• Analyze and troubleshoot customer issues and incoming requests, assisting with bug fixing and triage for enhancements
• Work with the business owners to manage the product backlog and guide prioritization
• Manage project execution across multiple globally distributed engineering teams
• Prepare and present detailed, written technical information for internal and external stakeholders as well as executive leaders

What we want to see:

• S. in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience
• Excellent communication skills to both clearly explain applications and to gather requirements from business users
• Experience writing SQL queries using SSMS and/or MySQL Workbench
• 3 years’ experience in business or functional analysis, including previous roles in business analysis, product management, project management or similar
• Broad technical skillset with a strong focus on modern technologies and microservice architectures as well as software testing skills
• Skilled at coordinating people and projects with a focus on timely deliverables
• Ability to problem solve and resolve conflict
• Solid knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (including user stories, backlog refinement and definition of done) and can translate them into Jira processes

It would be great if you had:

• Experience in energy markets and/or trading
• 3 years’ experience in implementation, customization and maintenance of complex business software
• Experience working on distributed, multinational teams
• Professional Project Management Certification (CSM, CSPO, PMP)
