If so, this position in one of the most beautiful parts of Oregon may be for you. The Training and Employment Consortium of Eastern is hiring a Career Specialist who will specialize in helping Foster Youth gain Independence and become “Career Ready”. If chosen, you will provide assistance to foster youth who are ready to make a transition to the Independent Living Program by helping them to obtain and maintain employment.
Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent and 18 months of full-time experience or any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
· Valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance.
· Pass background and driving record check prior to employment.
· Associate degree in human services or a related field preferred.
· Case management experience preferred.
Additional Information:
The successful candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel, and data base software in performing work assignments; Knowledge of community partners and resources; problem solving; creative thinking; research skills: and enjoy learning, working as a team member and making independent decisions.
Job duties include, but are not limited to the following responsibilities:
· Responsible for job creation, securing internships, helping participants build educational and employment skills, conducting outreach with employers and educational programs, and serve as liaison for youth entering adulthood.
· Work with businesses and industries to become knowledgeable of their employment needs.
· Maintain contact with employers and participants to stay informed of progress on work sites.
· Work closely with foster youth to successfully identify and place them in the correct resource
· Coordinate employment activities with WorkSource Oregon Center and other agency partners.
· Promote program objectives through public presentations to community organizations, or business networking groups to promote programs.
· Establish and maintain relationships with potential partners and seek collaborative opportunities.
