Job Description
This is fantastic opportunity for someone looking to progress their product career and take on some significant challenges and help accelerate our business as we accelerate our growth in global markets for both B2C and B2B. If you are passionate about product management and are looking for an opportunity to work with seasoned leaders in an ambitious, market-leading tech organisation, then this opportunity is for you!
We are seeking a highly motivated individual who enjoys the challenge of simplifying complex technical problems and has a passion for customer experience to take charge of two squads in our platform. This role covers a wide remit, owning the service layer which includes capabilities such as identity and customer data, personalization, promotions integration, marketing technology support and the preference centre. This area of our technology platform is critical to providing a fast and frictionless experience to all our customer channels, both B2C and B2B globally, and has a particularly important job of protecting our customers’ privacy. As people’s lives become more reliant on digital services, the risk of identity theft also increases and at Trainline we take the prevention of this very seriously.
Your challenge will be to work closely with your Product, Tech, Commercial and other department colleagues, leading on performance and quality and partnering on the delivery of new initiatives to ensure the customer experience for the whole end to end journey is second to none. The role is technical in nature but requires a strong understanding of the customer experience in order to uphold quality throughout.
Many of your product initiatives will require development activities within other teams, therefore a key part of this role will be cross team coordination to ensure delivery against the roadmap. Likewise, other product managers and the tech teams will have requirements for your squads that will need to be weighed up and scheduled accordingly with appropriate priority. To achieve this, you will need to be confident using data to drive decisions, a good communicator with great business partnering skills, and willing to understand the bigger picture of how your initiatives fit.
Product Manager responsibilities
Be passionate about customer needs. You have strong empathy and are the customer advocate. You evaluate and understand customer insights and align them to the work your team is delivering to ensure user needs are met.
Triangulate multiple signals using data tools to generate insights and ideas for improvements. Champion an outcome driven approach while resolving ambiguity and comprehensively exploring options to solve problems.
Lead/participate in Agile ceremonies, with responsibility for a high standard of meaningful documentation and process, driving prioritization for one or more squads by making trade-offs balancing new features with platform improvements.
Be an effective member of the squad leadership with Engineering, Design, Data and Business partners making sure squads are in a happy and functional place.
Build credibility by developing an understanding of technology decisions and implications, whilst building domain knowledge. Know the competitive landscape, global industry trends and company strategy, owning the short, medium and long-term roadmap.
Concise and effective communication with team providing context and strategy, whilst developing relationships, regularly engaging and communicating (through both written and confident verbal presentation), and influencing peers and business partners
Execute with limited direction tracking squad priorities and cross team dependencies, coordinating with partners across the business using data and insights to make timely decisions when needed.
React to operational issues, either customer or technical, and prioritise remedial action as appropriate to avoid poor customer experience or internal inefficiencies.
Qualifications
3 years experience in a Product Management role in a tech business
Worked in a fast-paced environment where you’ve had to think on your feet and bring people together to problem solve
Led a full-stack team or led delivery coordination across multiple teams
Evidence of customer centric thinking through insights, data and experimentation
Knowledge and experience of working with Agile frameworks, writing user stories, setting sprint goals and collaborating with teams on acceptance criteria
Analytical thinking and decision making, able to weigh up conflicting priorities and make the right decision using a balance of qual and quant data inputs
Experience in travel industry or a marketplace could be beneficial
