TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Technician I to join our team in Orlando, FL.
The Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Field Technician performs on-site or in-house servicing, diagnostic, repair and/or installation of customer toll systems equipment. This job may include any aspect of field support including troubleshooting, repair of electronic equipment, systems, and wiring; installation of equipment; upgrades, modifications, programming and documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Installation, preventive and corrective maintenance of Windows 7&10 Micro-Computers, video surveillance equipment cameras, RF antennas, switches, POE, UPS units, CAT 6 cabling and network communications equipment.
- Diagnoses and repairs hardware, software, and system issues.
- Restoring equipment to operational status as quickly as possible.
- Maintenance of spare equipment and parts including inventory management.
- Completes reports, logs, and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures and local practices.
- Take initiative to identify problems and their root causes as well as participate in implementing solutions.
- Escalate product and process issues to management and help with problem resolution.
- Follow all corporate, safety and production procedures and regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Two-year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
Electronic Engineering Technician (EET) certification a plus!
Required Skills & Experience:
- Working knowledge of Windows 7, 10, tools, equipment, and materials utilized within the trade.
- Communicate effectively and provide training and explanation of work performed.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Using test instruments like Multimeter, Oscilloscope, Power Supplies, etc.
- Basic Networking knowledge required.
- Working knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment, and materials utilized within the electronic and mechanical trades.
- Able to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, datasheets, assembly drawings and written work instructions.
- Able to calculate materials and supplies required to perform work.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Desired Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with servicing electronic and/or electromechanical systems or equipment.
