Overview
Under moderate supervision, Payroll/HR Assistant is responsible for providing support to department activities with specific responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of preliminary and final payroll reports, time sheets and spreadsheets. Additionally, this individual must demonstrate knowledge in functional areas of Human Resources including recruitment and staffing and assist with tasks as needed while upholding strict confidentially.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all employees are paid on time and that their paychecks are accurate
- Performs duties associated with the payroll processing
- Data entry including maintaining employee timesheets hours worked, time off requests, bonuses for payroll processing
- Submitting hours to Corporate Payroll for processing
- Record time off used and maintains time off balances
- Provides clerical support to human resources staff
- Responsible for maintaining active and terminated employee files
- Assist with the employee life cycle process to include- phone pre-interviews, scheduling in-person interviews, onboarding into the human resources information system
- Maintains confidentiality of all information
- Assist with day-to-day HR operations
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required.
Experience Required:
- One year of relevant office experience required.
Experience Preferred:
- 6 months of experience in human resources/payroll preferred
- ADP/iCIMS experience a plus
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret instructions, policies, and procedures
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to organize and perform work efficiently, strong attention to details
- Maintains confidentiality of all information
Travel requirement outside of immediate area (as a percent) <5%
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Drug testing and background check
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- 100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities
- Work is accomplished in an office space equipped with a telephone and computer.
- The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
