SHORT DESCRIPTION

Transplace is looking for a Trade Compliance Director who will evaluate the level of compliance with company/government contracting policy, generally accepted operation principles, government contracting requirements, and applicable rules and regulations; and will participate as a compliance expert, as appropriate, in committees and groups established to support business initiatives or process modifications and oversee the coordination of compliance implementation with the company departments and business unit. A Trade Compliance Director will also be responsible for analyzing new and proposed legislation that impacts company operations, procedures, trainings, services, or distribution channels, and initiating appropriate action.

PRIMARY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES AND PERCENT OF TIME SPENT

  • Ensure compliance with the legislation that regulates foreign trade in USMCA region.
  • Lead and management of the Mexico Customs Brokers Licenses and Network.
  • Deliver Proactive Customs & International Trade Compliance Solutions to Customers and Channels through the development of robust customer supply chain sensing capabilities and collaboratively managed (internal and customer) project action plans
  • Customer Relationship (Lead a team focused on providing the customer with operational excellence through all aspects of order management, issue resolution, proactive communication, and collaboration with the customer)
  • Comprehensive understanding of Mexico Customs Compliance terms, systems, procedures, policies, and practices, and develop process improvements to increase customer satisfaction and maximize employee effectiveness
  • Direct cross-functional projects involving continuous improvement and other key areas
  • Implement and manage International Trade & Mexico Customs Compliance Initiatives
  • Build organizational capability, including direction setting, development, and performance management Meet or exceed Customer financial and service targets
  • Active development, distribution and customer alignment of business metrics that highlight both financial and service value
  • Ensure team development and growth aligns with corporate development goals

Consultant and advisor to the customers on subjects of International Trade and customs compliance

  • Provide legal certainty to customs brokers and their customers
  • Ensure compliance of all the international trade operations in Mexico by Transplace
  • Management of the Customs Compliance, Customs Clearance, Tariff Specialist and Customs Validations (Glosa) Teams
  • Administration of all the obligations of the foreign trade operations in Mexico
  • Mastery of the usual activities of customs clearance
  • Knowledge of the Customs Law and International Trade Regulations
  • Manage and promote savings initiatives and risk mitigation for the company and customers.
  • Manage department metrics
  • All other tasks assigned by management

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE:

  • Mexican customs broker – Mandatario
  • Ensure compliance with the legislation that regulates foreign trade in Mexico
  • Develop and propose improvements for the elaboration of the firm's processes customs
  • Provide legal certainty to customs brokers and their customers
  • Specialist in essential topics of international trade, Customs Valuation, Rule of Origin, and Free Trade Agreements
  • Ensure compliance with the regulations that regulate the activity of the agent customs
  • Administration of the processes before and after customs clearance
  • Control of tax situation of customs brokers and business partners
  • Administration of certifications in foreign trade for Transplace and Mexico Customs Brokers.
  • ISO 9001, ISO 31000, C-TPAT, PIP and AEO Certification
  • Protection of customs brokers' licenses

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 10 years on Mexico Customs Operation
  • Minimum of 5 years on Manager or Director of Customs Operation or Customs Compliance

  • Bachelor level degree
