What are the responsibilities and job description for the Credit Manager position at Transplace?
The Credit Manager will lead the credit evaluation and assessment process for new and existing customers to optimize company sales and minimize financial risks. This position will be responsible for managing all credit extension, customer credit risk management, implementing and driving compliance to all credit policies and leading credit strategies to minimize loss to the company. Position reports to Director, Finance Operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS
- Manage daily operations of Credit extension, evaluation, and managing high risk customers
- Develop processes and procedures for evaluating customer financials and adjusting credit limits as needed
- Access and evaluate customer/broker credit reports and trade references
- Develop and implement best-in-class customer credit assessment process
- Develop and implement customer credit and risk management policy
- Analyze financial statements of key customers, identify high risk customers and develop process to manage credit extension to optimize sales and minimize risks. Report findings and recommendations to senior management
- Develop and implement ongoing key customer credit risk review and escalation process
- Complete ad hoc projects that require data mining and analytical skills
- Handle escalated customer issues for high risk customers
- Help manages relationships with the Sales team, as well as external customer relationships
- Establish strong ties with NACM and other industry credit management groups
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE
- 4-6 years of experience as Credit Manager or Finance Manager, with extensive experience in financial statement analysis and customer liquidity evaluation
- 2-4 years of experience working with software and system tools that support the credit extension and customer risk management process
- Advanced Skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience in the Transportation/Logistics industry
SKILLS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present clean, organized, and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience
- Proven leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively supervise, coach, and influence employees
- Ability to manage to expectations with a continuous improvement focus
- Advanced knowledge of accounting/transportation terminology a plus.
TRAVEL
- 5% travel / Availability to travel occasionally
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
