What are the responsibilities and job description for the Non-CDL Bus Driver/Van Driver - (11729) position at Transportation?
The job of the Bus Driver is done for the purpose of transporting students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring vehicle is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from buses.
Responsibilities include:
- Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior
- Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations
- Assists students and other passengers
- Attends meetings, trainings, etc.
- Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior; conducts emergency evacuation drills
- Drives school bus(es)
- Fuels assigned vehicle, (e.g. oil, water, fuel, etc.)
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, (e.g. fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.)
- Prepares documents and reports, (e.g. field trip reports, incident reports, inspection records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, etc.)
- Reports observations and/or incidents, (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.)
- Responds to inquires, (e.g. students, parents, other school personnel, etc.)
- Supervises students and other passengers during transit
- Assists other personnel as may be required
Experience is desired. Full time with Benefits - 25-40 hrs. per week. $16.45 Depending on Experience; w/Certificate. The District trains new bus drivers.
Qualifications:
- Alcohol and Drug Test
- Pre-placement Physical Exam
- Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance
- Random drug testing
- Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English
This is a 10 month School Year position only.
