THE OPPORTUNITY:
Payroll Specialist is a member of the Human Resources team who partners with team members at all levels of the organization to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing in accordance with applicable Federal and State laws. Payroll Specialist assists with and coordinates for multi-state quarterly and annual tax filing, garnishments, unemployment and wage verification. Payroll Specialist is also responsible for maintenance and process improvement of HRIS system, specifically ADP’s Enhanced Time system and WFN.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the administration and processing of a Weekly/Bi-Weekly multi-jurisdiction payroll in accordance with government regulations and tax codes.- Calculates payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings, garnishments and deductions.
- Processes new hires into ADP WFN.
- Performs regular audits to maintain data integrity.
- Enters payroll and employment related information into the HRIS system, and is responsible for the day to day maintenance of this system.
- Validate and approve ADP payroll processing invoices, submit to AP for payment.
- Reviews, corrects, maintains and files quarterly and annual tax data for required payroll reporting. Completes Multisite reporting as required.
- Assists team members with payroll and human resource inquiries and resolves discrepancies as needed.
- Calculates, processes and reconciles federal and state tax and social security withholding, and other deductions, insurance, benefits and 401(k) contributions, garnishments, child support, and court orders affecting employee compensation.
- Sets up all taxes in the HRIS to ensure appropriate filing and record keeping.
- Reviews and processes payroll adjustments including, paid time off, disability, bereavement and other leaves of absence.
- Audit timekeeping records to ensure compliance.
- Completes employment verification requests in a timely manner.
- Completes Unclaimed Wages Verifications and filings with appropriate States.
- Provides guidance to management and team members on payroll policies and procedures.
- Participates in appropriate payroll training, seminars and workshops to keep abreast of current trends and practices in human resources.
- Maintains current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, best practices, and applicable laws affecting payroll administration.
- Maintains positive relationships with team members at all levels within Transtar.
- Other duties as assigned.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Experience - 1 – 2 years with ADP Enhanced Time and WFN.- Minimum Experience – 4 to 6 years related experience processing multi-state payrolls.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
