About
This position performs educational work in teaching a specific group of pre-school children in a day care facility offering child care services for a small group of very young children. Employees are responsible for conducting an enrichment program to help children develop to their potential physically, mentally, and emotionally. Work includes participation in conferences with parents in meeting the needs of individual children.
Essential Functions
- Plans and carries out the daily in-door and out-door educational activities.
- Interacts and cares for children complying with all NC Child Care Requirements, including Developmental Day components, center policies, Creative Curriculum and NC Foundations requirements, and Sanitation regulations.
- Plans activities that provide for the needs of the children, including social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Setting up the physical environment to meet these needs while also being stimulating, safe, and challenging.
- Assigns and supervises the activities of the aides and volunteers.
- Maintains adequate supplies and sees that equipment is kept in good condition.
- Discusses with parents individual child's progress and plans objectives to meet their needs.
- Plans meals and supervises food preparation.
- Attends and participates in general staff meetings and staff development conferences.
- Collects data and maintains developmental binders for all assigned children.
- Educates parents on various childcare topics as they pertain to childhood development.
- Builds a rapport with the families of the children, to provide the children with a sense of security.
- Converses with parents at drop off and pick up to share pertinent information as it pertains to each individual child.
- Keeps the physical environment of the classroom clean, organized, and well maintained.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of child growth and development and planning programs to appropriately meet the physical, mental, and emotional needs of children.
- Knowledge of good health practices.
- Ability to establish rapport with children and their parents in order to obtain information concerning needs of individual children.
- Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports.
- Ability to exercise good judgement in appraising situations and making decisions.
Education and Experience
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduation from a four-year college or university preferably with a degree in Early Childhood Education, Nursery Education, or Elementary Education or graduation from high school and four years of experience in working with young children in a nursery school, kindergarten, elementary school, or a day care facility; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
Early Child Care Credentials, Infant/Toddler certification, CPR/First Aid, 8 CEUS annually, Early Childhood Associates Degree. Driver's License valid in the State of North Carolina.

Pay: $33,981.48 - $56,908.00 per year
