Job Description
Role: Mechanical Engineer I
Location: Santa Clara, CA (100% Onsite)
Mechanical Engineer, Consumable Devices
We are seeking a mechanical engineer to support development of consumable fluidic devices with educational or professional background in mechanical and/or process engineering. We are developing a revolutionary, low cost single-molecule DNA sequencer that can potentially improve the lives of people in a wide variety of ways including timely screening for diseases and diagnosis of various cancers by fusing biological and integrated circuit technology. This candidate will be responsible for supporting consumable device components and surface chemistry teams in a variety of activities as needed.
Responsibilities
Flowcell manufacturing, process development and assembly
Dimensional and mechanical measurements, analysis and report summary
Surface metrology and characterization
Component testing and quality checks, and visual inspection
Biocompatibility and materials compatibility testing
Data analysis and report generation
Sample preparation for external analysis
Component and subcomponent inventory management; shipping preparation and receiving
Operation of microfluidic systems
Qualifications and Skills
Associates or Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline from an accredited institution, 0 years experience required.
Hands-on lab experience preferred
Microfabrication, microfluidics and materials knowledge or experience a plus
Excellence in familiarity with Microsoft Excel or equivalent required
Familiarity with JMP, R, Matlab other statistical analysis programs a plus
