Position Summary
The Procurement / Inventory Control Manager (Procurement Manager) will oversee San Antonio and Austin inventory and looking for an individual who will be experienced and dynamic in this area. This position will also oversee two employees, and work with Project Managers and Production Managers, to ensure accurate on-time ordering, based on job installation timing and budget. The Procurement Manager will deal with vendors in creating a working relationship that allows the company to secure the best pricing.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounts payable to assist the accounting department by handling the accounts payable for the millwork company and ensure transactions are entered in timely and have been approved. This role requires an extroverted personality who is a go-getter and excels in problem solving.
This position will work 2 days per week in the Austin office and 3 days per week in the San Antonio office.
Essential Job Functions
1. Review current inventory in San Antonio and Austin that allows management and owner to review what it in stock and the value of said inventory.
2. Maintain the inventory in San Antonio and Austin.
3. Create a working relationship with vendors, or new vendors, to secure the best pricing for the company.
4. Work with Project Managers and Production to ensure timely ordering and installation.
5. Manage staff of two to ensure day-to-day ordering and process / procedures are intact, which includes budgets and waste.
6. Work with Accounting, and your staff, to ensure PO’s are properly created, entered, and received.
7. Work with Accounting to process Accounts Payable in the millwork company.
8. Work with internal IT to customize software for inventory needs.
9. Update QuickBase with inventory and maintain.
10. Get creative on selling used material inventory.
11. Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Knowledge and understanding of proper terms and vocabulary common to the construction field.
- Strong understanding of AP functionality and processes.
- Excellent vendor relations and negotiation skills.
- Extroverted personality with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to quickly use addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Be able to accurately take measurements and have the knowledge to use various scale conversions.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Assess and resolve minor problems.
- Commitment to adhering to the company’s safety rules and guidelines by attending all required meetings and certification training.
- Demonstrates attention to detail.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- At least three (3) years of inventory / operations experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time.
- The employee will frequently require the use of their hands to handle objects, tools, or controls of various machinery.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, ability to distinguish between colors, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work in physically demanding jobs that include standing, kneeling, bending, lifting 50 pounds regularly and working at varying heights.
