POSITION SUMMARY
TRC is seeking a Wetland Technician to join our Permitting, Planning and Licensing team. Successful candidates will be an energetic, flexible team player to join our biological and natural resources team in either the Augusta or Portland, Maine office as an environmental scientist to work on projects throughout the New England Region. Typical projects include a wide variety of energy-related projects including renewable energy (hydropower/wind/solar/storage), electric transmission, natural gas pipeline, transportation, infrastructure, and other development projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
Successful candidates will have the following responsibilities, and additional duties include supporting proposals, providing direction to team members, and some financial analysis of projects.
- Ability to review and implement natural resource survey plans (i.e. wetland delineations, wildlife surveys).
- Perform sensitive species management, construction monitoring, environmental permitting, and technical writing.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of biological and natural resource protocols, regulations, requirements, and best practices. Contribute technical expertise to project teams.
- Assist with a mix of biological natural resource related field and office tasks and assure each assignment follows the project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Effectively manage field work, support other technical staff, interact in the field with clients, stakeholders, regulators, boards, and contractors. The candidate will also assist with the preparation, implementation, and/or management of proposals, budgets, reports, schedules, reviews, safety policies, and quality control.
- The position will entail short-term and long-term field assignments; therefore, the candidate must be willing and physically able to travel and work outdoors in rough and remote terrain under challenging environmental conditions; and have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
