Job Title: Miller

Department/Function: Mill

Reports to Title: Mill Manager

Position Overview:

Under broad-general work direction, is responsible for providing the pasta manufacturing operation with the blend of semolina that consistently meets with TreeHouse Foods Private Brands specifications through continuous monitoring of incoming wheat quality (raw materials) and mastery of the milling process.

Responsibilities:

· Responsible for providing general direction of day-to-day activities in order to meet the schedule and production requirement of shift operations.

· Determines on a daily basis (or as-needed) basis which blends of wheat are necessary for producing TreeHouse Foods Private Brands specified quality semolina.

· Oversees the milling process and utilization of the computerized system to ensure designated quality levels of “finished” products.

· Directs blends of semolina and clear flours to pasta operations or load-out facility. Also directs finished feed and binning feed into designated load-out bins.

· Sends samples of each of the previously mentioned processes to the laboratory for analysis; subsequently uses results for making appropriate adjustments to the milling process.

· Completes mill production, inventory and quality reports on a routine basis.

· Initiates necessary interaction with other department personnel in order to keep mill operating at optimum performance levels.

· Participants in performance of regular preventative maintenance activities to ensure peak mill performance.

· Directs Mill Operator in performance of necessary operational duties.

· Manage safety performance of the Mill Operator on shift.

· Responsible for the production of quality, safe and legal product.

· Other related duties as assigned by the Head Miller or Mill Manager.

· Contribute to the safe work environment for fellow employees and comply with all safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:

· Milling skills and knowledge gained through technical school training, completion of a four-year milling science college program and/or actual milling experience is preferred (an equivalent amount of training, education and experience will be considered).

· Included is the ability to utilize computerized data and laboratory results to independently make decisions relative to the necessary adjustments that must be made in order to produce the desired quality of mill products.

· A reasonably high level of communication skills are necessary for purposes of interacting with various departments and levels of employees and management within the company.

· Tasks performed involve work with equipment, materials and/or procedure that require familiarity with formal safety procedures and the following of these procedures in order maintain the safety of the work environment.

· The employee is required to stand and walk 90 percent of the shift; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The position requires climbing or balancing on a frequent basis.

· The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Periodically the employee must lift 100 pounds.

· Vision requirement include near and far visual acuity with some degree of color perception.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is generally in the 70 – 80 decibel range. Temperatures will reach high levels in the work environment

  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills as well as basic math skills. Must be able to interact with all plant personnel.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Should be familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, basic OSHA safety regulations and possess a minimum of 6 months experience in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and to work at high elevations, in confined areas, in extreme heat and cold and in outside conditions on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to navigate numerous flights of stairs/ladders on a continual basis.
  • Must possess the ability to use a variety of hand tools such as scrapers, air hose, ladders, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33.75 per hour
