Custodial Services Aide
Summary: Provides services in order for institutional housekeeping program to run smoothly. The understanding is to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions of establishment by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Daily
Restrooms (All)
- Clean all bright work (stainless services)
- Empty, disinfect (spray) sanitary napkin receptacles, and replace liner
- Disinfect light switches, entrance door handles, partitions and partition handles
- Dust ceiling vents and remove any cob webs
- Clean all mirrors
- Clean and disinfect all fixtures
- Clean and disinfect all sinks
- Clean and disinfect toilets (inside & outside), toilet seats, urinals and all handles
- Spot clean walls and partitions to remove smudges, marks and any other material
- Sweep floors with a broom
- Mop floors with a disinfectant
- Restock all paper products and soap
- Notify management of any projected shortage of paper products (reordering)
- Notify management of any maintenance issues (leaky faucets, toilets, vandalism)
Kitchen & Break rooms (Upstairs/Downstairs): Twice a week, more if needed
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners
- Take all trash or recycling to the appropriate dumpsters outside
- Clean all bright work (stainless surfaces)
- Dust tops of refrigerators, cabinets, appliances, window ledges and other flat surfaces
- Wipe down, with a disinfectant, appliances such as: refrigerator, microwave (inside & outside), toaster/oven, and other appliances
- Dust ceiling vents and remove any cob webs
- Clean and disinfect sink(s)
- Wipe down & spot clean, using a disinfectant, cabinets, table tops and counter tops
- Wipe down chairs and table legs
- Clean and disinfect water coolers, coffee makers, fountains or dispensers
- Sweep floors with a broom
- Mop floors with a disinfectant
- Notify management of any maintenance issues (leaky faucets, broken machines, etc)
Common Areas (Welcome Center, Computer Labs, Childcare Room, hallways, elevators, stairways, conference rooms, and building and suite entrances)
- Wipe down all bright work (elevators, railings, doors, handles, signs, etc)
- Clean and disinfect light switches and elevator buttons
- Clean and shine all glass surfaces (windows, doors, countertops, etc)
- Dust ceiling vents and remove cob webs
- Sweep, vacuum, mop floor areas; spot clean carpeted areas
- Vacuum upholstered furniture
- Dust tables, lamps, window ledges, blinds, receptionist stations, wall mounted posters/artwork, etc
Weekly (One Zone per day)
Zone 1 Shore Transit (including maintenance)
Zone 2 One Stop Job Market
Zone 3 CSEA & Hot Desks
Zone 4 ESRL
Zone 5 TCC (2nd Floor)
- Sweep, vacuum, mop floor area from edge to edge and spot clean carpeted areas
- Vacuum upholstered furniture
- Dust all cleared surfaces of desks, file cabinets, shelving and other flat services
- Dust tables, lamps, window ledges, blinds, wall mounted posters/artwork, light covers, white board ledges and frames
- Spot clean horizontal surfaces of removal of spillage, marks, water rings, smudges, etc
- Clean internal glass partitions
- Wipe down light switches, baseboard, door frames and vents
- Wipe down chair and table legs, shine bright work
- Disinfect telephone receivers and dust bases
- Position furniture

Education and/or Experience
- Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
