About the Role:
The Inside Sales Account Representative is responsible for the complete customer sales process which includes but is not limited to, providing quotes, sourcing, securing requested products, order follow up, order processing, product specification data all while maintaining and growing sales. The position spends a great deal of time sourcing products for customers and bids by searching the Internet for products that meet the specifications, negotiating with suppliers on the cost of the products. Once the Rep secures the product they independently set the customer price and Tri Star margin for the sales transaction. Their knowledge of the industry, customers, competitive bid process, Tri Star required minimums, etc. serve as the basis for the pricing and margin they can establish without additional approvals. This valued team member must be able to work effectively with a variety of other team members within the company.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Spends up to 60% of their time researching and finding requested products through outside suppliers, negotiates Tri Star purchasing price of those products, completes purchase process, independently determines the price to the customer and ultimately the company margins.
- Establishes the pricing to customers bid by bid based on their knowledge of product specifications and bid requirements. The selling price determined by the Rep also establishes the margin the sale will generate for Tri Star.
- Independently responsible for working with established customers and by researching bids and new customers via the Internet for constantly generating and qualifying sales leads and sales opportunities and then aggressively pursuing them.
- Tri Star establishes minimum sales and profit targets that the Rep is independently responsible determining a work plan that allows them to qualify for commissions and meet required job performance metrics.
- Manages Customer Request for Quotes to understand products, source requested products that Tri Star doesn’t stock and respond with competitive quotes in requested customer format.
- Respond to inbound inquires and provide all pertinent information to assure quoted materials meet specifications.
- Process orders, prepare correspondence and fulfill customer needs to exceed expectations.
- Provide product suggestions and add on sales to customers.
- Use strong interpersonal skills and product knowledge to build customer base.
- Maintain and update competitive customer and market information.
- Follow up consistently on quotes within 48 hours to increase the opportunity to converting to sales.
- Complete shop orders for all in-house fabricated orders, job sheets, and update ship order dates as warranted.
- Communicate with Account Managers on quotes/orders from targeted customers.
- Work with Tri Star team to assure market intelligence is utilized for pricing strategies on customer quotes to maximize gross profit.
What You Need:
- Three or more years of inside sales account experience in a related industry.
- Purchasing experience including negotiating with vendors required and CRM experience preferred.
- Knowledge of pipe, valves and fittings technical specifications requirements preferred.
- Ability to work independently sourcing, negotiating, purchasing an establishing prices and margins for the book of business.
- Proven ability to achieve sales and profit goals.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Strong communications skills (verbal and written) with ability to create strong relationships.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
