Summary
System Administrator helps to build and maintain the server/network infrastructure that supports the day-to-day business operations of the project as it relates to the Video Management System and integrated technology. This position is also responsible for providing remote end user technical support and assistance.
Responsibilities
- Systems administration of Video Management System, including server configuration, management of Microsoft Active Directory Organizational Unit structure, to include but not limited to, Group Policy management and configuration, management of computer/server objects, and assigning local roles and permissions, Group Policy, Windows Certificates, Domain Name System (DNS), MS SQL.
- Manage and ensure servers are compliant with STIGs/SCAP, up-to-date with latest patches, and scanned. Mitigate any findings and maintain plan of action and milestones (POA&M).
- Configure and review the security settings and group policies, including those mandated by FISMA, NIST, and DHS 4300A guidelines, along with additional settings required by ICE. Differences between sets of settings and any potentially problematic settings shall be identified and documented
- Configure and install approve SSL certificate to function properly with all Windows 2019 or higher servers according to the SSL protocols and DHS security policy
- Support the Government certification and accreditation process, including applying approved security and vulnerability patches to all managed systems
- Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve anomalies; identify, and correct server security vulnerabilities; schedule downtime to minimize user impact during monthly or emergencies patching.
- Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve anomalies on Windows OS Government laptops
- Develop a share folder access to the system .
- Use a highly developed knowledge of systems analysis, computer systems, programming languages, hardware capabilities, and system operation to ensure network servers and SAN data systems are properly configured, installed, operated, and maintained.
- Evaluate computer hardware and software deficiencies and make recommendations to procure items necessary to correct deficiencies.
- Install security, operating system service packs, patches, and application updates and patches on all common user servers.
- Maintain server and node operating systems including patch management.
- Monitor and evaluate overall system performance of operating system facilities, software products, computer services, and communications and networking facilities; specifies, installs and tests system components as required to enable system to meet desired performance objectives
- Plan, implement, and maintain storage and archive capabilities.
- Manage backup strategy of enterprise data
- Work with other team members and teams to cooperatively resolve issues
- Meet documented service level agreements
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures and flows for common systems\server tasks
- Develop strong communications and working relationships with other functional and support teams
- Provide appropriated support related reports, activities, and\or verification
Desired Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree (can substitute experience and certifications)
- At least 3 years of experience performing in a System Administration role.
- Experience with Windows Server 2019 platform.
- Knowledge and skill in systems administration methods, such as server configuration, and/or management of Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Certificates, Domain Name System (DNS), MS SQL.
- Excellent customer service skills; project a positive image and professional manner at all times; ability to work within the confines of a set time schedule.
- Knowledge and experience communicating storage system concepts to technical and non-technical personnel; ability to develop technical documents and produce system design documentation.
- Knowledge and skill in performance tuning tools and techniques such as a server hardware replacement, and/or network and cabling diagnostics.
- Knowledge and skill in system diagnostic tool and fault identification techniques.
- Knowledge and skill in IT security principles, such as system hardening, STIGS, conducting security audits, and/or vulnerability checks.
- Experience in implementing, testing, restoring, and performing system backups.
- Experience performing desktop support, customer service, or helpdesk tasks.
- Experience and strong knowledge using Microsoft desktop applications such as Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and Powerpoint.
- Extremely customer service orientated with a high sense of urgency
- Desire to constantly learn and acquire new technical skills
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related discipline; 3 years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- Must possess and maintain Microsoft MCSA: Windows Server 2019 or equivalent.
Clearance
- Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
