The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will report to the EVP-Chief Operating Officer. The CMO will be a key member of the executive team which sets the overall strategic direction of the Company. The CMO will serve as the face of the Company to the medical community and health authorities. The CMO will become a key spokesman for Trilogy at a national level by speaking at key industry forums and taking leadership role(s) within key association(s) supported by the Company.

The primary role will be to provide leadership, direction, guidance, and input for medical activities provided at our campuses. The CMO will have direct responsibility for the relationships and performance of the Medical Directors in each campus; QAPI process; clinical informatics and clinical protocols. The CMO will collaborate and provide medical insight into clinical/operations; Compliance, Regulatory and Risk Management; coordinate with Synchrony Health and other ancillary services to ensure compliance with Trilogy standards and protocols; co-lead the Trilogy Way Council -Clinical Innovation with the Chief Nursing Officer.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Duties and Responsibilities

Partner with other members of the executive team on overall strategic planning

• Ensure the objectives and priorities for medical and clinical excellence align with the corporate strategy and drive accountability throughout the team and the company
• Oversee the development of protocols for approved Clinical Centers of Distinction (CCOD)

Ensure effective and efficient medical and clinical policies and procedures are in place for respective areas of responsibility and compliance with all regulatory requirements

• Develop, review, and approve key resident care policies
• Collaborate/oversee Synchrony Health to ensure quality of care provided to residents
• Collaborate/oversee other vendors to ensure quality of care provided to residents
• Ensure the coordination of medical care and other designated care and services provided to residents in the campuses

QAPI

• Oversee the development and implementation of all disease management, case management and care management
• Assist in establishing key Quality
• Ensure campus Medical Director and NPs are engaged in each week’s QAPI review and in each month’s QAPI review; ensure Medical Directors and providers are reviewing all potential quality of care issues identified
• Oversee improvement in Quality Metrics at each campus; collaborate with CNO and COO to improve performance
• Assist in the development of educational programs for campus staff and other professionals

Clinical informatics

• Recruit, train and develop high performance talent in clinical
• Develop a robust reporting system to identify opportunities to prevent adverse events and support improvement in all Quality Measures

Campus Medical Directors

• Recruit, train, direct and collaborate with Medical Directors at each campus to meet residents’ medical needs
• Ensure Medical Directors are meeting his/her annual performance requirements
• Identify and establish proactive and collaborative relationships with physicians/providers at each campus and patient advocacy groups
• Utilize a physician/provider communication platform to educate, document and communication with providers directly to improve performance
• Ensure campus Medical Directors are meeting his/her administrative responsibilities as outlined in the Medical Director agreement and related policy: Medical Director Administrative Duties

Represent the Company and its programs to external audiences, including the investment, medical and regulatory communities, hospitals/ACOs, insurance companies, as well as pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, collaborators, and partners

Select and manage an elite portfolio of innovative products for pilots and ultimate implementation through the Trilogy Way Council-Clinical Innovation.

Support due diligence on licensing and business development opportunities and evaluate technical, medical, and commercial merit of potential programs and assets

Qualifications and Experience

MD with Board Certification required; Board Certification in Geriatrics

A minimum of 10 years management experience in both skilled nursing and senior housing overseeing the quality of care and physician relations in multiple facilities/multiple states; management experience in long- term care with Value-Based Programs, ACOs, capitation models and related care managements programs highly preferred.
