Job Summary:
Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT) is a joint venture between Caterpillar and Trimble whose purpose is to transform the way heavy equipment customers shape the world with solutions that differentiate Caterpillar and Trimble.
The HW/FW Product Owner & Verification and Validation Lead is a hybrid role that combines elements of the PO and V&V Lead job roles.
The Product Owner is a key member of a development team and owns the build order backlog for their team.
The Product Owner is responsible for making backlog priority decisions for the team that lead to the successful delivery of a high-quality product that realizes the roadmap that has been agreed with the Product Management team, while also assuring that the product is built in such a way that it is extensible to efficient future development. A key responsibility is taking high-level product requirements, leading a detailed definition of what is to be built, assuring adequate participation from all organizational stakeholders, and delivering this in a way that is easily and effectively consumed by the development team.
The Product Owner must also be a ready resource for team members, interacting daily to answer questions, represent the customer, clarify details, assist with testing, and generally facilitate successful execution of the product backlog.
The HW/FW V&V Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading the testing of hardware components that enable systems to be developed that help heavy equipment owners, operators, and technicians do their jobs more efficiently, more effectively, and better than the competition. The V&V Lead utilizes both their deep product and domain knowledge, along with the combined capabilities of CTCT’s global test organization, to assure that products are delivered that achieve world class quality and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Product Managers, HW Engineering, System Engineering and other stakeholders to:
create detailed technical definitions from F/W requirements
prioritize/maintain the development team’s backlog
ensure efficient mitigation of risk and test coverage, through careful evaluation of product changes
Responsible for working with the global V&V team(s) to assess, determine and communicate final dealer and customer readiness; includes assessing release readiness for HW/SW/FW/CX fitness and communicating red-flags and no-go’s in T reviews and/or other stakeholder communications
Required Skills and Experience:
Relevant Qualification or Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
5 years of relevant industry experience in development or application of electronic control systems
Desired Skills and Experience:
Experience with the J1939 CAN (Controller Area Network) communication protocol
Experience using and/or testing machine control systems or survey equipment
Experience working in an Agile software development environment
Experience working in global teams
Proven ability to use influence to achieve goals and objectives
