Production Planner Overview:
The Production Planner / Scheduler is primarily responsible for scheduling and coordinating work and material flow between departments. Key tasks are:
- Scheduling the work centers based on routings or other capacity tools
- Maintaining acceptable inventory levels
- Controlling costs
Production Planner Requirements:
- Associates degree in Business management, Supply Chain Management, or similar discipline
- 2-5 years’ experience in Logistics Management or Supply Chain Management or Capacity Planning, Production planning.
- APICS – CPIM preferred
- Macola or similar ERP system using inventory control methods (i.e., MRP)
Production Planner Job Description:
- Use lean principles and tools to improve processes in the entire value stream (supplier to customer).
- Lead improvement efforts in the information flow between customer, sales and supplying plants to improve the material supply chain and service level to the customer.
- Use Macola to determine items to be ordered and generate production orders
