The Unit Secretary is responsible for management of clerical tasks, activities and coordination and provides cooperative support and assistance to promote smooth operation. The Unit Secretary is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives and policies of the department and hospital.Trinity Health Of New England is looking for an experienced Unit Secretary to join our team of mission-driven healthcare innovators at Mercy Medical Center. Our vision is to provide state-of-the-art healthcare to those within our local communities, creating a positive impact for each individual that walks through our doors. This person is responsible for assisting physicians while providing exceptional treatment to patients with a variety of medical conditions.
The ideal candidate will display a drive to provide patient-centered experiences through scholarly scientific inquiry, compassion for the human spirit and mind, advocacy and education for the patient and families, and collaboration with all those who touch our patients. This critical role Performs various duties related to patient assistance, patient transportation and the cleaning of the operating rooms and general surgical area.

Work Hours/Shift:
- Full time
- 24 hours per week (8hr shifts)
- Every other weekend and holiday
You Will Be Responsible For:
- Exceptional Patient Care: Meets/greets patients/family/visitor in a pleasant manner assisting them with comfort needs though out their hospital stay.
- Excellent Communicator: Answers telephone calls, responds to routine inquiries and relays messages. Responds to patient’s intercom calls and notifies appropriate personnel of patient’s request.
- Strong Educator: Educate patients and family members so that they have a transparent understanding of the care being provided.
- Technical Familiarity: Assembles medical charts and maintains charts by filing all necessary reports and results. Maintains confidentiality of the patient record
- Active Teamwork: Assists with the coordination of patient needs for satisfaction. Orders meals, calls housekeeping, and notifies management if concerns are heard in the department.
Requirements:
- Education: a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certification: CPR required.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience: Basic computer skills required. Effective communication, organizational and critical thinking skills.
